I have been there too.

When I was in my 10th year as a mental health therapist I too found myself burnout and experiencing compassion fatigue.

I was exhausted and if I’m honest… not the nicest person to be around.

My family was gracious, while I was short tempered and always exhausted.

I took some time off, sought out support and learned as much as I could about compassion fatigue.

Through this journey I earned a certificate in Compassion Fatigue and now years later I’m passionate to combine my training as a clinical mental health therapist, compassion fatigue educator and my lived experience to offer support to other Christian caregivers.

At Hope Made Strong we equip ministry caregivers to support their community while remaining resilient.

Let me share with you how I overcame burnout and compassion fatigue and renewed my passion for leading and serving others using scripturally based, best practice methods.

Those in professional helping roles experience the cumulative impact of caregiving on their whole being, which can make it increasingly difficult to relate to God, neighbour and self in healthy ways. Finding Hope in Helping is an effective and robust resource that assists those seeking to rediscover the fullness of life Jesus created them for. I recommend this program with enthusiasm.

Finding Hope in Helping is an excellent resource for pastors and other helping professionals. Speaking as a trauma psychologist, I can attest to the soundness of the content - it is thoughtful, well-organized, clearly articulated, and firmly grounded in the research literature. Speaking as a pastor, I deeply appreciated how Laura readily integrates Scripture and faith throughout the conversation. If there is someone you know who is experiencing burnout or has witnessed or experienced some deeply troubling events, I believe they would benefit greatly by going through the steps of this course, along with Laura’s accompaniment and guidance.

The Finding Hope in Helping program not only provided me with the information I needed as to WHY I was experiencing such severe and troublesome symptoms but also showed me HOW to go about getting relief from them and even how to prevent them in the future.I am confident this will help me be better able to cope with the pain and trauma of others, I now feel like I have the tools to move ahead.

Since completing the Finding Hope in Helping program I am better equipped with some tools to support others in the compassion industry. The lessons were helpful to better articulate what is happening and how to address stressors. The best part was the references to biblical resources that offer strength and hope as well as personal disciplines that renew one's energy.

Each of the 30 questions ask you about your current work situation. Select the number that honestly reflects how frequently you experienced these things in the last 30 days.

Because this is a research validated test the wording of the questions may seem clinical and vague. This allows you the participant to consider your unique work situation and adapt it to your work environment. This quiz is valid for those who work in helping professions (nurses, teachers, clergy, first responders, therapists etc)
